Electrical Ohmmeters

GAO’s electrical ohmmeters are devices used to measure electrical resistance. Resistance is the opposition that a material offers to the flow of electric current, and is measured in units called ohms. GAO Tek’s ohmmeters work by passing a small current through the circuit or component being tested and measuring the voltage drop across it. By knowing the current being passed and the voltage drop, our electrical ohmmeter can calculate the resistance of the component using Ohm’s law (R=V/I).

GAO’s electrical ohmmeters are composed of power source, measuring instrument (usually a galvanometer), and resistor.

GAO Tek’s electrical ohmmeters have the following functions:

  • Testing Resistance - GAO's ohmmeters are used to test the resistance of resistors, capacitors, and coils. By measuring the resistance of these components, technicians can determine if they are functioning properly or if they need to be replaced.
