OPERATIONAL METHOD
Note: When leakage is conducted for air conditioning system the air conditioning system and engine should be shut down
- The air conditioning system should be added with sufficient refrigerants to make it maintain the pressure of 340 Kpa (50 PSI) at least under the condition when it does not work. When the temperature is lower than 59 oF (15 oC) the leakage may not be detected because the pressure at such condition may be insufficient
- Pay attention not to pollute the probe when the detected parts are polluted. If the component is very dirt or has concretions, dry industrial towel should be used to wipe or use compressed air to blow off. Cleaning agent should not be used because they may product influence on probe
- Conduct visual inspection for the whole refrigerating system and inspect all pipes, hoses and component for leakage of lubricating oil, damage and trace of corrosion. Every problem should be inspected carefully with the probe.
- In the refrigerating system, detection should be made along continuous route. Do not omit. If one leaking hole is found, continue to detect the remaining part. At the time of leakage detection, the probe should move around the detected component with the speed not larger than 0.98 – 1.96 in/second (25-50 mm/second). In addition, the distance to the surface should not be larger than 5 mm. Move around the component completely so as to achieve the best detection effect. The sound of howling indicates finding of the leakage.
- At each and every time take away the instrument and adjust the sensitivity to a proper position again. Conduct inspection for the component that is tested just now carefully to determine accurate position of the leakage.
- To verify the leakage definitely, carry out the operation again according to following steps
-
- When necessary blow industrial air to the suspected leaking area to inspect the area again. Under the condition of large leakage blowing industrial air to the area is helpful to locate the leakage point accurately.
- Move to fresh air first and then carry out resetting. Grasp the probe and move it close to the warning leakage as possible, only for air conditioning system of automobile.
- When leakage detection is performed for evaporator core of module of air conditioning, air condition blower should be adjusted to the highest level and work for 15 seconds at least and is powered off. Then wait for 10 minutes to make refrigerants accumulate inside the container. After that put the probe into resistance block of the fan or place it at the opening of closest heating/ventilating/air conditioning container of evaporator. Take the vent pipe of heat pipe as an example. If alarm occurs when leakage is found.
CONSIDERATIONS
- The sensitivity cannot be turned up unless the leakage is not detected. The sensitivity cannot be turned down unless resetting fails to make the instrument reset.
- In areas with serious pollution reset the instrument in time to remove the influence on food by environment. Don’t move the probe when resetting and the instrument can be reset at will according to need.
- In area with wind it is hard to find large leakage. Under such condition it had better block the potential leakage area.
- An alarm may be given out if the probe contacts moisture or solvent. Therefore avoid touching them when detecting leakage.
- After the refrigerating system is maintained or other service possible affecting the refrigerating system is conducted, leakage detection should be carried out for the part with maintenance.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Proper maintenance is very important to your leakage detector. Strict compliance with the following guidance will reduce failure and extend service life of the product.
WARNING: The power must be disconnected before changing the probe. Otherwise this may result in light shock.
Keep the probe clean. Use the attached protective cover to prevent dirt, moisture and grease from blocking the probe. The product is forbidden for use with protective cover. Before the product is used the probe and protective cover should be inspected to ensure that there is no dirt or grease.
CLEAN
- Pull down the protective cover
- Use industrial towel or compressed air to clean the protective cover.
- If the probe itself is also dirt, dip it into gentle cleaning agent such as alcohol for several seconds. Then use compressed air or industrial towel to clean
Note: Never use solvents such as gasoline, turpentine and mineral oil because they may leave residual on the probe to reduce its’ sensitivity
PROBE CHANGE: Â The probe will become ineffective after few months. It needs to be changed. As service life of the probe is relevant to the condition where it is used and the frequency of usage. It is hard to predict the exact time for change. When it gives our alarm or is unstable in clean and pure air it is necessary to change the probe.
STEP FOR CHANGING THE PROBE
- Confirm that the product is switched off.
- Screw off the old probe in anti-clock wise direction
- Screw in the backup probe provided in the package in clockwise direction
PRODUCT FUNCTION
- Detect SF6 gas leakage for power switch
- Detect Leakage of SF6, HFC, CFC and HCFC refrigerants
- No need to make calibration. The efficient pump inside the probe may reduce response time of the instrument.
- Light emitting diode as the indicator light for leakage, verification voltage display. Two C batteries as power provider and short pre-heating time
- Leakage may be still found even in atmospheric environment. A great deal of refrigerants will not poison the probe.
- Super sensitivity: Even at the leakage rate of 4.6 g/year, it can still respond to the extremely small amount of leakage
- The probe handle is set with reset button. The narrow and long stainless steel probe may detect the areas that are hard to access.
- The instrument is provided with two measurement range of low sensitivity and high sensitivity
