CFP Transceivers
GAO’s CFP transceivers are high-speed optical modules used in networking and data center environments to transmit and receive data over fiber optic cables. CFP transceivers support very high data rates and are commonly used for 40 Gigabit Ethernet (40GbE) and 100 Gigabit Ethernet (100GbE) applications. They are hot-pluggable and conform to the CFP MSA (Multi-Source Agreement) standard, ensuring compatibility and interoperability between different vendors equipment. They provide high-density, high-bandwidth connectivity and are suitable for various networking applications.
GAO’s CFP transceivers are composed of an optoelectronic transmitter, optoelectronic receiver, laser driver and trans-impedance amplifier (TIA), digital diagnostic monitoring (DDM) interface, connector interface, and control and identification interface.
The other common names for CFP transceivers, are C Form-Factor Pluggable transceivers, CFP optical modules, C-FP modules, Compact Form-Factor Pluggable transceivers, CFP optics, CFP transceiver modules, CFP optical transceivers, and CFP optical transceiver modules.

GAO Tek’s CFP transceivers have the following functions:
- Data Transmission: GAO’s CFP transceivers are designed to transmit and receive data over optical fibers. They support high-speed communication protocols such as Ethernet, Fiber Channels, and SONET/SDH. CFP modules can handle data rates ranging from 40 Gbps (Gigabits per second) to 400 Gbps, depending on the specific CFP module type.
- Optical Conversion: Our CFP transceivers convert electrical signals into optical signals for transmission over optical fibers. They incorporate electro-optical components to convert the electrical data signals into light signals suitable for fiber transmission. Conversely, they can also convert incoming optical signals into electrical signals for processing by networking equipment.
- Hot-Pluggable: GAO’s CFP transceivers are designed to be hot-swappable, meaning they can be inserted or removed from compatible network devices without powering down the system. This feature allows for easy installation, replacement, or reconfiguration of the transceiver modules without disrupting network operations.
- Form Factor: Our CFP transceivers have a specific form factor that defines their physical dimensions and electrical interface. The CFP form factor provides a high-density, compact module that can be used in various networking equipment, such as switches, routers, and optical transport platforms.
GAO Tek’s CFP transceivers are rugged, versatile, and precision measurement instruments. They comply with applicable industry standards such as IEEE 802.3 Ethernet standards and ITU-T recommendations for optical interfaces.
Our CFP transceivers help our customers comply with relevant U.S. government regulations such as:
- Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations
- National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) guidelines
- Department of Defense (DoD) requirements and regulations
- Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) requirements
Our CFP transceivers help our clients in complying with relevant Canadian government regulations such as:
- Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) regulations
- Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) regulations
- Canadian Standards Association (CSA) requirements
- Controlled Goods Program (CGP) compliance
Our CFP transceivers have the following applications:
- Data Centers: GAO’s CFP transceivers are used in data centers for high-speed interconnectivity between switches, routers, and storage devices.
- Telecommunications Networks: Our CFP transceivers are used in telecommunications networks, enabling high-speed data transmission over long distances.
- Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs): GAO’s CFP transceivers are utilized in MANs to establish high-bandwidth connections between different network nodes within a metropolitan area.
- Wide Area Networks (WANs): Our CFP transceivers facilitate high-capacity data transmission over long-haul optical fiber networks, connecting geographically dispersed locations.
- High-Performance Computing (HPC): Our CFP transceivers support the networking needs of HPC systems, enabling fast data transfer between compute nodes and storage systems.
