HOW TO TEST

  1. KEYS

Function setting key.

Press the key will enter setting interface to set and change testing specifications.

Channel scan key. Press the key will enter Channel scan mode.

Frequency Spectrum Key. Press the key wil1 enter spectrum disp1ay mode.

Channel/Frequency key. Press the key will enter channel/frequency (Video, Audio, V/A) testing mode.

Step up key

Step down key

Press the key will increase or deduce the channel no. Frequency value. At setting mode, press the key will move up /down the menu.

 Power On/Off key. Press the key will turn on/off the instrument.

Function confirm key. Confirm the input Channel no./Frequency or confirm new setting or enter sub menu.

Clear key. Clear newly input number or c1ear unconfirmed setting or escape from sub menu.

~  Number and point/Additional Channel key. Use the key to operate second function operation.

Press these keys to input the channel no. and Frequency value. If input integral frequency value same or less than Max Channel no. one need to input decimal point. To input additional   Channel No., press key “/Z” at first, then input number. After all is input, the instrument will confirm automatica1ly. Or else one need to press key ENTER for confirmation or press key “CLR” to clear operation.

At SETUP mode, use them to input English letter, space, etc.

  Second function key. Use the key to begin the second function operation.

“6’VOLT” Voltage testing key. Press key “2ndF” then press this key will begin built in battery and trunk cable Voltage testing.

“5/C/N” Carrier to noise testing key. Press “2ndF” then press the key to test CATV carrier to noise difference.

“4/TILT” TILT testing key. Press key “2ndF” then press this key begin to test TILT.

“PRINT”. Value added Opt.

(l). At SCAN or SPECTRUM mode press the key to print the data stored in the memory.

“8/SAVE”key. At SCAN or SPECTRUM mode, press the key to store the current data.

“9/ LOAD”. Data 1oading key. At SCAN or SPECTRUN mode, press the key load the stored data.

“CLR/DEL” Delete key. At SCAN or SPECTRUM mode, press the key to delete the data in memory.

Press key “2ndF”then press this key to change the LCD contrast.

  1. HOW TO SET

Before testing, one need to set the instrument according to measurement.

Press key SET will trigger the SET mode. LCD display as fo1lows:

Press key “▲”or “▼”to select menu (in three pages) then press key “ENTER” to enter respective SET mode. Press Key “CLR” to escape to testing mode.

2.1. AUTO OFF Time

When the mark point to “AUTO OFF TIME”, press key “ENTER”, the LCD will display:
Press key “▲”or “▼” to select, and then press key “ENTER” to confirm and escape to previous menu. Or press key “CLR” to cancel the current operation and return to previous menu. This menu can be set at “Always On”. The instrument will always be ON after turn on.

One can also set at 5 Minutes auto OFF, l0 Minutes Auto Off, etc.

2-2. LEVEL UNIT SELECT
When the mark (arrow head) point to LEVEL UNIT, press key “ENTER” to confirm, LCD disp1ays:

Press key “▲”or “▼” to select, press key “ENTER” to confirm and escape to previous menu. Or press key “CLR” to cancel the current operation and directly escape to previous menu.

This menu can set at “dBuV” or “dBm” (dBmW).
2.3. FREQUENCY STEP IN

When the mark (arrow head) point to “FREQUENCY STEP”, press key “ENTER” confirm, LCD Displays:

Press key “▲”or “▼” to select, press key “ENTER” to confirm and escape to previous menu. Or press key “CLR” to cancel the current operation and directly escape to previous menu.

This menu can be set at “50kHz”,”100kHz” or “1MHz”

2.4. TILT CHANNEL SET

When the mark (arrow head) point to TILT CHAN SET, press key “ENTER’ to confirm, LCD displays:

Press “F1” or “F2”or “f4” to change the No. (1-7) that represent the Channel from low end to high end .At the representing No. to be set. Press key “▲”or “▼”to change and select the CH. No. Press key “ENTER” to confirm the current setting and save to built-in memory; Press key “CLR” to c1ear the current operation and escape to previous menu. This setting is able to set total 7 tilt Channels will automatically keep in order from low to high end mean while the low end frequency is small and the high end frequency is big.

2.5. CHANNEL AMEND SET

The instrument has been carried out the automatic digita1 frequency response modifying.

This instrument stil1 offers the function for user self-error amending. You need only one standard signal generator to check the error and you can amend the error by the following ways:

When the mark point to “CHAN AMEND“, press key “ENTER” to confirm, the LCD will disp1ay:

Press key “▲”or “▼” to change the Channe1 to be amended. Press key”F1″ or “F2″to change the Video or Audio mode. At the channel to be amended, press key”F3″or “F4″to change the amend data (the range is ±5 dB).After operation press “ENTER” to confirm and save the data to the built in memory. Press key “CLR” to cancel the current operation and escape to the previous menu.

2.6. CLEAR CHANNEL AMEND VALUE

Press key “▲”or “▼” , When the mark point to “CLR AMEND VALUE”, press key “ENTER”, the LCD wi1l display(upper figure):

If you decide to clear the amend value, select “Yes” and press “ENTER” to confirm.

If not, please se1ect No.

Press key “F2”or “F3”then press key “ENTER” or “CLR” to confirm or cancel the operation.

2.7.SCAN THE AUDIO CARRIER
Press key “▲”or “▼” to select, when the mark point to “SCAN AUDIO”. Press key “ENTER”, the LCD wi1l display:

Press key “F2″ will scan Audio and Video carrier simultaneously at Channel Scan mode.

Press key “F3” wil1 only scan Video carrier at Channel Scan mode.

Then press key “ENTER” to confirm or press key “CLR” to cancel the operation

2.8. COMMUNICATION PORT SET
Press key “▲”or “▼”, when the mark point to “INTERCFACE SET”, press key “ENTER”, LCD displays:

a. The COM port is RS232C seria1 type.

b. Serial printing port is required for the printer.

c. Print Scale is valid for screen printing. It means printing at rate of 1:1 or 1:2 by comparing the screen matrix. The default printing rate is 1:1.

2.9. CHANNEL PLAN SELECT
Press key “▲”or “▼”to se1ect. When the mark (arrow head) point to” CHANNEL PLAN”, press key “ENTER” to confirm, LCD displays:

Press key “▲”or “▼” to select Indian CATV or USER PLAN (a1so called user self-channel List editing), then press key “ENTER” to confirm or key “CLR” to cance1 the operation.

2.10. CHANNEL SORT

Press key“▲”or “▼”to select. When the mark (arrow head) point to “CHANNEL SORT”, Press key “ENTER” to confirm, LCD displays:

Press key: “▲”or “▼” to select “By frequency” or “By Channel”(the Additional Channel will  be placed after the general Channe1)’to arrange the Channel order. Then press key “ENTER” to confirm or key “CLR” to cancel the operation. The default “CHANNEL SORT” is sorted by Frequency.

2.11. CHANNEL EDIT

Press key “▲”or “▼” to select. When the mark (arrow head) point to “CHANNEL EDIT”, press key “ENTER” to confirm, LCD will displays:

Press key “▲”or “▼” to select “Manual edit” or “Auto edit”. Then press key “ENTER” to start, sub-menu (press key “CLR” to cancel the operation). The menu is as fo1lows:

 

a. Manual Edit

At manual edit mode, press key Fl and F2 to select the Channe1, press F3 and F4 don’t select the Channel; Press key “▲”or “▼” to change the Channel No. to be select. After finish selecting, press key “ENTER’ to confirm the current operation and save the data to the built-in memory; Press key “CLR” to cancel the current operation and re1oad the data in memory, Then escape to upper menu.

b. Auto Edit

At Auto Edit mode, the user is allowed to adjust the Auto edit limit level, then press key “ENTER”, the instrument will scan all Channels in the Channel List and se1ect all Channels that is bigger than limit leve1. Finally press key “ENTER” to confirm. Press key “CLR” will cancel the auto edit and escape to upper menu.

2.12. OPERATOR AND UNIT NAME

Press key“▲”or “▼” to select. When the mark (arrow head) point to “OPERATOR”, press key “ENTER” to confirm, LCD displays:

Press key”F1 “Or “F4” to select “NAME” or “UNIT”. Press “F2” or “F3” to change the input letter position .Press key “l/ABC”–“9/YZ” to input 26 1etters. Press key”./z” to input space. Then press key “ENTER” to confirm. Press key “CLR” will clear the current operation and escape to upper menu.

  1. HOW TO TEST

3.1. SINGLE CHANNEL TEST

Press key “LEVEL” will enter the following testing mode. LCD displays:


Press key “F l” ” F2″ ” F3″ or “F4″ will switch between the above 4 testing modes.

Press key “▲”or “▼” to change frequency and channels. Press digital key will easily input channel No. and frequency.

3.2. SCAN CHANNELS

Press key “SCAN” will enter Channel scan mode. LCD displays:

Press key “▲”or “▼” to change the reference display level at l0dB step. Press key “Fl” to change display scale. The value is l0dB or 20 dB per row. Press key “F4” to change the scan channel numbers (i.e. the display is enlarged).The enlarge rate three times. Press key “F2” and “F3” wi1l make the marker move to the right and left.

At channel scan mode, press key “2ndF” plus other second function key will save the tested data, or reload, print even de1ete saved data.

3.3. SPECTRUM TEST

Press key “SPECT” to enter spectrum testing mode. The LCD disp1ays:

Press key “▲” or “▼”will change the display reference level at step of l0 dB.

Press key”F1″ to change display scale. The value is l0dB or 20dB per row; Press key “F2” or “F3″is able to input central frequency (CENT) or scan width (SPAN).Press “F4” will change 4 keys operation and enter frequency marker operation, and displays:

At this moment press key “Fl” will automatically move the frequency marker to the frequency point of the biggest level (PEAK). Press key “F2” or “F3”, will move the marker right and left.

At spectrum testing mode, press key “2ndF” plus other second function key is allowed to save tested data, load, print or delete saved data.

3.4. VOLTAGE TEST

Press key “2ndF” then press key “4/VOLT”, the instrument will enter voltage testing mode. It will test the built in battery vo1tage and the trunk Voltage. LCD displays:

 

3.5. C/N TEST

Press key “2ndF” then press key “5/C/N”, the instrument will enter C/N testing mode. The instrument will measure the selected Channel’s Video carrier leve1 (the value should be bigger than 80dBuV or else it will not accurate) and display, the value, Then the noise 1evel of the system wil1 be measured. Follow the instruction from the instrument and get the C/N value and disp1ay on LCD as fo1lows:

Press key “▲”or “▼” to change the Channel No. to be tested. One can also directly input the Channe1 by digital and “ENTER”. The special case of testing C/N shows:

  1. The C/N testing is limit to test the CATV transmitting system.
  2. When the LCD display<25dB, that means the tested C/N value is less that of 25 dBuV or the value is negative.
  3. When the LCD display>65db means the tested C/N value is bigger than 65dBuV.
  4. When the LCD disp1ay “Error” means the tested C/N is too 1ow and out of the testing range of the instrument.

3.6. TILT TEST

Press key “2ndF”then press key”./Z/TILT”, the instrument enter TILT testing mode. The LCD disp1ays:

Press key “▲”or “▼” to change the display reference 1evel at 10dB.

Press key “F1″to change display scale. The va1ue is l0dB or 20dB per row.

 3.7. HUM TEST

Press key “2ndF” then press key “6/HUM” to enter HUM testing mode.
