Overview
The GAOTek Handheld CATV Signal Level Meter is a multi-functional, portable signal meter which features a large character TN LCD for clear display of test results, making it a natural choice for the CATV professional. It is designed and manufactured for CATV system installation, maintenance, and other testing. The signal meter can be used to test CATV signal levels in both channel and frequency modes as well as take test measurements for CATV TILT, C/N, Trunk Cable Voltage, etc. This meter can also display 2 channels simultaneously.

About the keys
Power ON / OFF.
After press 2ndF key, then press this key the meter will working in The Single channel mode; otherwise if press this key directly it will input digital “1”.
After press 2ndF key, then press this key the meter will working in The Single channel AUDIO measure mode; otherwise if press this key directly, it will input digital “2”.
After press 2ndF key, then press this key the meter will working in the single frequency measure mode; otherwise if press this key directly, it will input digital “3”.
After press 2ndF key, then press this key the meter will working in The double channel measure mode; otherwise if press this key directly, it will input digital “4”.
After press 2ndF key, then press this key the meter will working in The TILT measure mode; otherwise if press this key directly, it’ll input digital “5”.
After press 2ndF key, then press this key the meter will working in The Voltage measure mode; otherwise if press this key directly, it’ll input digital “6”.
After press 2ndF key, then press this key the meter will working in The SCAN measure mode; otherwise if press this key directly, it’ll input digital “7”.
After press 2ndF key, then press this key the meter will working in The C/N measure mode(testing in line no need to shut off the carrier); otherwise if press this key directly, it’ll input digital “8”.
After press 2ndF key, then press this key the meter will switch left channel to right or switch right to left so that you can modify the channel number. (this function only be used in the DOUBLE working mode or TILT working mode).when switch to left channel the “CH” character that of the left side will be sparkling and when switch to right then the right side “CH” character will be sparkling; if press this key directly, it’ll input digital “9”.
When first press this key, the instrument will display “2nd”,this cue to the user if press other key it will carry out other key’s second function; if press this key directly it’ll input digital “0”.
When first press this key, the instrument will display “Z”, at this time the user can input subjoin channel; when the user input frequency value. Press this key will input decimal; press this key also can cancel or stop some operation.
when the user input channel number or frequency value, this key must be pressed to affirm it.
Channel or frequency UP.
Channel or frequency DOWN.
- 1. SINGLE CHANNEL MEASURE
Press and then press key, the instrument will work in the single channel measure mode, LCD will display:
Here on the left-down side of the LCD display current channel number, right-down side of the LCD display the frequency of the video carrier, the level will be displayed on the middle-left side of the LCD, the V/A will be displayed on the middle-right side of the LCD.
- AUDIO CARRIER MEASURE
Press and then press , the instrument will work on the single channel AUDIO measure mode, the LCD will display:
Here on the left-down side of the LCD display current channel number, right-down side of the LCD display the frequency of the audio carrier, the level will be displayed on the middle-left side of the LCD.
- SINGLE FREQUENCY MEASURE
Note： At this mode can measure FM broadcasting level
Press and then press , the instrument will work on the single frequency measure mode and the LCD will display:
Here on the left-down side of the LCD will display character F, right-down side on the LCD will display a frequency value. The level be displayed on the Middle left side of LCD. When the input frequency is lower 56MHz the decimal must be Input.
- DOUBLE CHANNEL MEASURE
Press and then press , the instrument will work on the double channel measure mode, LCD will display:
Here the first channel No. be displayed on the left-down side of the LCD, the second channel No. be displayed on the right-down side of the LCD, the first channel’s level be displayed on the middle-left side of the LCD and the second channel’s level be displayed on the middle-right side of the LCD.
- TILT MEASURE
Press and then press , the instrument will be in the TILT working mode,
The LCD will display:
Here the first channel No. be displayed on the left-down side of the LCD, the second channel No. be displayed on the right-down side of the LCD, the first channel’s level be displayed on the middle-left side of the LCD and the TILT be displayed on the middle-right side of the LCD.
- C/N MEASURE (the result is not accuracy, only for reference)
Press and then press , the instrument will be in the C/N working mode, The LCD will display:
Here the first channel No. be displayed on the left-down side of the LCD, the frequency be displayed on the right-down side of the LCD, the channel’s level be displayed on the middle-left side of the LCD and the C/N be displayed on the middle-right side of the LCD.
- VOLTAGE MEASURE
Press and then press , the instrument will be in the voltage measure working mode, the LCD display:
Here the trunk AC voltage be displayed on the left side of the LCD and the battery e C/N working modeDC voltage be displayed on the right side of the LCD.
- POWER SUPPLY
The rechargeable Ni-Hy battery can works continue more than 5 hours. If the voltage is lower than 6.9 V the battery symbol will empty and sparkling. At this time user must shut down the power and charging for 12-14 hours.
