DC Ground Fault Locators

GAO’s DC ground fault locators are devices used to locate ground faults in DC electrical systems. A ground fault is an unintentional electrical connection between a conductor and ground, and can occur when an insulation failure or other fault allows current to flow from a DC circuit to ground.

GAO’s DC ground fault locators are composed of sensing device, monitoring device, current source, grounding test, and alarm system.

GAO Tek’s DC ground fault locators have the following functions:

  • Detection: The primary function of our DC ground fault locator is to detect the presence of ground faults in DC electrical systems.
  • Location: Once a ground fault has been detected, the GAO’s ground fault locator is used to determine the location of the fault within the system.
  • Severity Assessment: GAO’s DC ground fault locator can also provide an indication of the severity of the fault, allowing operators to prioritize and plan for repairs.
  • Minimize Downtime: By quickly and accurately locating ground faults, our DC ground fault locator can help to minimize downtime and prevent damage to equipment and infrastructure.
  • Prevent Accidents: Ground faults can be a safety hazard, and our DC ground fault locator can help prevent accidents by identifying and addressing faults before they cause harm.
  • Maintenance Planning: Data logging capabilities of GAO’s DC ground fault locator can provide insight into the frequency and severity of ground faults, helping to plan maintenance and repairs to prevent future faults.

GAO Tek’s DC ground fault locators are rugged, versatile and precision measurement instruments. They comply with applicable industry standards such as IEEE 142, IEEE 1584, NFPA 70E, UL 508A, IEC 61010, and CE marking.

Our DC ground fault detectors help our customers comply with relevant U.S. government regulations such as:

  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
  • National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)
  • Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
  • Federal Communications Commission (FCC)
  • Department of Transportation (DOT).

Our DC ground fault locators help our clients in complying with relevant Canadian government regulations such as:

  • Canadian Electrical Code (CEC)
  • Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA)
  • Health Canada
  • Industry Canada
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations (TDG)
  • Canadian Standards Association (CSA).

Our DC ground fault detectors have the following applications:

  • Renewable energy: GAO Tek’s DC ground fault locators are used in solar and wind power systems to detect and locate ground faults in the DC circuits and panels.
  • Telecommunications: Our DC ground fault locators are used in telecommunications equipment to detect and locate ground faults in DC power systems, such as batteries and rectifiers.
  • Data centers: GAO’s DC ground fault locators are used in data center power systems to detect and locate ground faults in DC circuits and power distribution units.
  • Electric vehicles: Our DC ground fault locators are used in electric vehicles to detect and locate ground faults in the DC charging system.
  • Industrial and manufacturing: Our DC ground fault locators are used in various industrial and manufacturing processes to detect and locate ground faults in DC power systems, including process control systems, motor drives, and battery backup systems.
  • Aerospace and defense: GAO’s DC ground fault locators are used in aerospace and defense applications to detect and locate ground faults in DC power systems on aircraft, ships, and other vehicles.

Our DC ground fault locators can be shipped overnight within the continental U.S. and Canada, and can be shipped globally.
