Optical Fiber Rangers
GAO’s optical fiber rangers are portable devices that are used to test and troubleshoot optical fiber networks. They can be used to measure the attenuation, loss, and length of optical fiber cables, as well as to locate faults in optical fiber networks. GAO Tek’s optical fiber rangers are tools for technicians who install, maintain, and troubleshoot optical fiber networks. They can help to quickly and easily identify and repair problems with optical fiber networks, which can help to improve the reliability and performance of these networks.
Our optical fiber rangers are composed of display, power supply, controller, probe, and software application.
The other common names of optical fiber rangers are fiber optic length testers, optical cable length meters, fiber distance measurement devices, fiber length meters, optical cable range finders, optical fiber distance measurement tools, fiber optic cable testers, fiber length measurement instruments, optical cable distance meters, fiber range detectors, optical fiber length scanners, fiber optic distance analyzers, optical cable length measurement devices, fiber link testers, optical fiber cable range meters.Â

GAO Tek’s optical fiber rangers have the following functions:
- Attenuation measurement: GAO’s optical fiber rangers can be used to measure attenuation over a range of wavelengths, which can be used to characterize the optical fiber cable and to identify potential problems.
- Loss measurement: Our optical fiber rangers can be used to measure loss over a range of wavelengths, which can be used to characterize the optical fiber cable and to identify potential problems.
- Length measurement: Our optical fiber rangers can be used to measure length by sending a light signal through the optical fiber cable and measuring the time it takes for the signal to travel from one end of the cable to the other.
- Fault location: GAO’s optical fiber rangers can be used to locate faults by sending a light signal through the optical fiber cable and measuring the time it takes for the signal to travel from one end of the cable to the other. The time it takes for the signal to travel through the cable will be longer if there is a fault in the cable.
- Visual fault locator (VFL): Our optical fiber rangers work by emitting a visible light signal through the optical fiber cable. If there is a break in the cable, the light signal will be interrupted and the VFL will indicate the location of the break.
GAO Tek’s optical fiber rangers are rugged, versatile and precision measurement instruments. They comply with applicable industry standards such as ANSI/TIA/EIA-568-B.2-1, IEC 60794-1, ITU-T G.652, ITU-T G.657, and ISO/IEC 11801.
Our optical fiber rangers help our customers comply with relevant U.S. government regulations such as:
- The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations
- The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations for the installation
- The National Electrical Code (NEC) regulations
- The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standards
GAO’s optical fiber rangers help our clients in complying with relevant Canadian government regulations such as:
- The Canadian Electrical Code (CEC)
- The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC)
- CEC regulations
- CRTC regulations
- CSA standards
Our optical fiber rangers have the following applications:
- Installation and commissioning of optical fiber networks: GAO's optical fiber rangers can be used to test and troubleshoot optical fiber networks during the installation and commissioning process. This can help to ensure that the network is installed correctly and that it is functioning properly.
- Maintenance and troubleshooting of optical fiber networks: Our optical fiber rangers can be used to test and troubleshoot optical fiber networks during the maintenance and troubleshooting process. This can help to identify and repair problems with the network, which can help to improve the reliability and performance of the network.
- Quality assurance of optical fiber networks: Our optical fiber rangers can be used to test and troubleshoot optical fiber networks during the quality assurance process. This can help to ensure that the network meets the required quality standards.
- Research and development of optical fiber networks: GAO’s optical fiber rangers can be used to test and troubleshoot optical fiber networks during the research and development process. This can help to improve the design and performance of optical fiber networks.
GAO Tek’s optical fiber rangers can be shipped overnight within the continental U.S. and Canada, and can be shipped globally.
