Electrical Testers
GAO’s electrical testers are devices used to measure, test, and troubleshoot electrical parameters and conditions in electrical systems and circuits. They are used by electricians, technicians, and professionals working with electrical equipment. Our electrical testers come in various forms, each designed for specific testing purposes. Â
GAO’s electrical testers are composed of display probe or test leads, measurement range selector, power source, control buttons, sensors, circuit protection, housing, calibration adjustments, data logging or connectivity.Â
The other common names of the other electrical testers are voltage testers, continuity testers, multimeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, insulation testers, phase sequence testers, clamp meters, ground testers, power quality analyzers, frequency counters, earth resistance testers, impedance analyzers, network analyzers, surge testers, high-potential testers, leakage current testers, power factor meters, capacitance meters, inductance meters, function generators, logic analyzers, oscilloscope, EMI/RFI testers, battery testers, field intensity meter, cable testers, spectrum analyzers, dielectric strength tester, and infrared thermometers.Â
GAO Tek has been focused on servicing the North American markets and has earned praise from many of its customers in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

GAO Tek’s electrical testers have the following functions:
- Multimeter: Our multimeters are versatile electrical tester that combines several functions into a single device. It measures voltage, current, and resistance. Our multimeters can also test continuity, diode functionality, and capacitance. They are used in electrical and electronic troubleshooting, circuit testing, and general electrical measurements.
- Voltage Tester: Our voltage tester are used to determine the presence or absence of voltage in a circuit. It helps to identify live wires and ensures electrical safety. GAO’s voltage testers are available in various forms, including non-contact voltage testers (which detect voltage without physical contact) and test lamps or pens (which light up or beep when voltage is detected).
- Circuit Analyzer:Â Our circuit analyzers are used to test the integrity and safety of electrical circuits. It measures voltage levels, checks for proper grounding, verifies the presence of a neutral wire, and identifies wiring faults such as reversed hot and neutral wires. GAO circuit analyzers are used in residential and commercial electrical installations.
- Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) Tester: GFCI testers are designed to test the functionality of ground fault circuit interrupters, which are electrical safety devices commonly found in areas where water is present (e.g., bathrooms, kitchens, and outdoor outlets). Our GFCI testers simulate ground faults and help ensure that GFCIs trip properly when a fault occurs.
- Phase Sequence Tester: Our phase sequence testers are used in three-phase electrical systems to determine the correct order of the phase sequence. They ensure that the three phases are correctly connected and help prevent damage to motors and other three-phase equipment.
- Insulation Resistance Tester (Megohmmeter): GAO’s Insulation resistance testers are used to measure the electrical resistance of insulating materials such as wires, cables, and electrical equipment. They help identify insulation problems and assess the overall insulation integrity. Our megohmmeters are used in maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical systems.
- Power Quality Analyzer:Â Our power quality analyzers monitor and analyze various parameters of an electrical system, including voltage, current, frequency, harmonics, and power factor. They help identify power quality issues such as voltage fluctuations, harmonic distortion, and reactive power problems. GAO power quality analyzers are essential in industrial settings and for diagnosing electrical problems.
GAO Tek’s electrical testers are rugged, versatile and precision measurement instruments. They comply with applicable industry standards such as IEC 61010, IEC 61557, IEC 61000, UL 61010, ANSI/ISA-82.02.01, NIST Handbook 44, and ISO/IEC 17025
Our other electrical testers help our customers comply with relevant U.S. government regulations such as
- National Electrical Code (NEC)
- Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Standards
- National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Regulations
- Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) Regulations
Our other electrical testers help our clients in complying with relevant Canadian government regulations such as:
Canadian Electrical Code (CEC)
Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Regulations
Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) Regulations
Measurement Canada Regulations
Health Canada Regulations
Our other electrical testers have the following applications:
- Circuit Analyzer:Â Gao Tek circuit analyzers are used to diagnose and analyze electrical circuits, including identifying faults, testing circuit integrity, and measuring voltage and current levels. It helps in troubleshooting electrical systems and ensuring proper circuit operation.
- Insulation Tester/Megohmmeter: Our insulation testers are used to measure the insulation resistance of electrical components or systems. They help in assessing the insulation integrity of wires, cables, motors, transformers, and other electrical equipment. Gao insulation testers are used in preventive maintenance programs and during installation or troubleshooting to detect insulation breakdowns or faults.
- Power Quality Analyzer: GAO’s power quality analyzers are used to measure and analyze various parameters related to the quality of electrical power. This includes voltage fluctuations, harmonics, power factor, voltage/current waveform distortions, and other power-related anomalies. Our power quality analyzers help in diagnosing power quality issues, assessing system performance, and identifying potential electrical problems.
- Continuity Tester: GAO Tek continuity testers are used to check the continuity of electrical connections, wires, and components. They help in determining if a circuit is complete (closed) or broken (open). GAO continuity testers are used during installation, troubleshooting, or repair to ensure proper circuit connectivity and identify any interruptions or faults.
- Phase Rotation Tester:Â Our phase rotation testers are used to determine the rotation direction of three-phase electrical systems. They help ensure that all phases are correctly connected and aligned, preventing potential equipment damage or operational issues due to incorrect phase rotation.
- Ground Resistance Tester: Our ground resistance testers are used to measure the resistance of the grounding system. They help in evaluating the effectiveness of grounding and bonding in electrical installations, ensuring compliance with safety standards and minimizing the risk of electrical hazards.
- Capacitance Meter:Â GAO Tek capacitance meters are used to measure the capacitance of capacitors. They help in testing and selecting capacitors for applications, verifying capacitance values, and assessing the condition or health of capacitors in electrical circuits or devices.
Our other electrical testers can be shipped overnight within the continental U.S. and Canada, and can be shipped globally.
