Overview
GAOTek Process calibrator with Pressure (Temp and Electrical) is an ultra-compact device used for Calibrating, maintaining, and troubleshooting in both field and laboratory with several patented technologies. This temperature calibrator provides cellphone like menu and powerful task management functions. It supports temperature test with thermocouples and RTDs independently. It is an ideal device for Sourcing, Simulating and measuring pressure, temperature, electrical signals.

Function Introduction
Setting Function
- Serial Port Setting: it is used to set communication address (1-121) and baud rate (2400, 4800, 9600 and 19200) of the calibrator.
- Snapshot Storage: it is used to manage snapshot view, snapshot delete and storage mode setting;
- Common Tools: include application of thermal engineering signal calibrator and simulate transmitter, management of precise resistors library and switching of temperature unit and pressure unit;
- System Calibration: it is used for system calibration setting of measurement, output and pressure module and needs password input before operation;
- System Setting: it can adjust screen brightness and backlight time, select system alarm modes, change system shutdown time and perform online upgrade of system firmware via serial port (enter the password before operation);
- Date Time Setting: it is used to set system time, date and date format of display (YMD, MDY and DMY);
- Display Language Setting: it is used to choose system language display;
- 24 V Power Supply: turn on / off DC24 V power supply;
- Help: it is equivalent to a simple system manual, including product description, feature introduction, basic wiring diagram for operation and wiring diagram for typical application
Measurement Function
- Voltage: two measuring ranges of DC±75mV and DC±30V;
- Frequency: the measuring range is (1 ~ 50000) Hz;
- Pulse: it can count rising edge and falling edge of square wave and maximum counting number is 999999;
- Resistance: it provides three wiring methods, namely two-wire system, three-wire system and four-wire system, and adopts the measuring range of (0~4000)Ω;
- On-off: it can measure switch on-off state and record switching data in real time;
- Current: the measuring range is DC±30mA;
- Pressure: external SDP modular intelligent digital pressure calibrator is used to measure the pressure;
- RTD used for temperature measurement: 1) It supports three wiring methods, namely two-wire system, three-wire system and four-wire system; 2) It supports Pt1000(385), Pt500(385), Pt100(385), Pt100(3916), Pt100(3926), Pt10(385), Cu100(428), Cu50(428), Cu10(427), Ni120(672), Ni100(618), 11 kinds of RTD and precise resistors library (12 groups at most); 3) It supports 3 temperature units, namely ℃, ℉ and K.
- Thermocouple used for temperature measurement:
1) It supports 13 types of thermocouples, namely S, R, B, E, J, K, N, T, C, D, G, L and U;
2) It supports 3 temperature units, namely ℃, ℉ and K;
3) It supports automatic cold junction temperature compensation (adopting a dedicated thermocouple temperature measuring jack) and fixed cold junction temperature compensation.
4) It supports step output, program output and keyboard setting output.
Output Function
- Voltage: it provides two voltage ranges, namely (-10~100) mV and (0~12) V, and supports step output, program output and keyboard setting output;
- Frequency: it provides square wave frequency output, frequency range of (0 ~ 50000) Hz and adjustable amplitude (3 ~ 12) V and supports step output, program output and keyboard setting output;
- Pulse: it can set frequency, amplitude and trigger mode of output pulse (at most 999,999 pulses) and support keyboard setting output;
- Resistance: it provides an output range of (0~4000) Ω and supports step output, program output and keyboard setting output;
- Current: it provides two power supply modes, namely internal 24V power supply and external power supply, has an output range of (0~22)mA and supports step output, program output and keyboard setting output;
- RTD simulating temperature output:
1) It supports Pt1000(385), Pt500(385), Pt100(385), Pt100(3916), Pt100(3926), Pt10(385), Cu100(428), Cu50(428), Cu10(427), Ni120(672), Ni100(618), 11 kinds of RTD and precise resistors library(12 groups at most);
2) It supports3 temperature units, namely℃, ℉ and K;

Calibration of Calibrator
- Calibration of measurement items: it involves five measurement items such as current (30 mA), voltage (75 mV, 30 V), resistance (four-wire system) and frequency (50000 Hz);
- Calibration of output items: it involves five output items such as current (22mA), voltage (100mV, 12V), resistance and frequency;
- Calibration of pressure module: it can calibrate SDP modular intelligent digital pressure calibrator

Measurement Function of Calibration
On the main interface, press the navigation key “p” for adjusting main interface to measurement mode and press “q” for adjusting main interface to output mode.

Operation Method
Under measurement mode of main interface, press “V/Hz” to display voltage, frequency and pulse measurement options in the display area under and, as shown in the Figure.
1) Press “F1” for voltage measurement
Press “F1” under Voltage to enter voltage measurement range select interface. An appropriate measurement range shall be selected based on the voltage value for measurement, including 30V and 75mV.The user can press and to adjust the measurement range. It also can press “F3” under Expand to expand all options, as shown in the Figure.
Press p and q or and “F2” under Up and Down to select a required measurement range, press “F4” under Select to select an appropriate measurement range and then press “F4” under OK to enter voltage measurement interface of corresponding measurement range. Corresponding key functions under voltage measurement mode:
Option: reenter into the voltage measurement range select interface to select a voltage measurement range.
Zero clearing: press “F4” under Zero to perform short circuit zero clearing for measuring circuit before voltage measurement. The instrument will display Zero on the measurement panel when entering the zero clearing mode for measurement. It will exit the zero clearing mode after re-pressing “F4” under Zero.
2) Press “F2” for frequency measurement
Press “F2” under frequency to directly enter main interface of frequency measurement.
3) Press “F3” for pulse measurement
Press “F3” under Pulse to enter pulse measurement counting edge select interface. The pulse measurement counting edge is used for recording pulse quantity, including rising edge and falling edge. Counting edge mode setting shall be completed based on prompts. Key functions under pulse measurement mode:
Option: reenter to select a counting edge mode for pulse measurement (rising edge or falling edge).
Zero clearing: press “F4” for zero clearing after counting completion to enter next counting.

Switch Measure
Operation Method
Under measurement mode of main interface, press for setting of resistance and on-off measurement select.
1) Press “F1” for resistance measurement
Press “F1” under Resist.to enter resistance measurement wiring system. Select interface (including two-wire system, three-wire system and four-wire system). Select an appropriate wiring system based on needs and then press “F4” under OK to complete resistance measurement setting. Key functions under resistance measurement mode:
Option: re-select a resistance measurement wiring system.
Zero clearing: press “F4” under Zero before resistance measurement to perform short circuit zero clearing for measuring circuit.
2) Pressing “F2” for on-off measurement
Press “F2” under Switch to enter on-off trigger record. Select the setting. Enabled means to record the output value at the moment of on-off change in the on-off measurement; Disabled means to make no record of the change. The user shall select an option based on needs and then press “F4” under OK to complete on-off measurement setting. Key functions under on-off measurement mode:
Option: re-select whether to enable trigger record for on-off measurement.
View: when the on-off trigger record is enabled, press “F2” under View to view on-off state information of the switch and display last 11 groups of on-off data, as shown in the Figure

Operation Method
Under measurement mode of main interface, press for thermocouple and RTD measurement select setting. 1) Pressing for thermocouple measurement Press under TC to enter thermocouple measurement setting interface and set thermocouple type, temperature unit, cold junction mode and cold junction temperature value under fixed compensation.
Type: 13 types of thermocouples, namely S, R, B, E, J, K, N, T, C, D, G, L and U.
Temperature unit: Three options, namely ℃, K and ℉. Cold junction mode: Two options, namely automatic compensation and fixed compensation.
a) Automatic compensation: the calibrator starts its Pt100 for temperature compensation.
b) Fixed compensation: the user shall enter a cold junction temperature within the range of (-20 ℃ ~ 50 ℃) as shown in the figure. After the setting is completed based on needs, press “F4” under OK to enter the thermocouple measurement mode. Key functions under thermocouple measurement mode: Option: reset thermocouple type, temperature unit, cold junction mode and cold junction temperature.
Zero clearing: Press “F4” under Zero before thermocouple measurement to perform short circuit zero clearing for measuring circuit.
When use dedicated jack of TC for measurement, if adopting the compensation wires to connect, should select automatic compensation (namely Int. Ref); If adopting the wires without compensation function to connect, should select manual compensation (namely Ext. Ref), and the users should set the compensation temperature by themselves.
2) Pressing “F2” for RTD measurement
Press “F2” under RTD to enter RTD measurement setting interface and set RTD type, wiring system and temperature unit.
Types: 11 types of RTD, including Pt1000(385), Pt500(385), Pt100(385), Pt100(3916), Pt100(3926), Pt10(385), Cu100(428), Cu50(428), Cu10(427), Ni120(672), Ni100(618), 11 kinds of RTD and precise resistors library (12 groups at most), as shown in the figure.
Wiring system: Three wiring systems, namely two-wire system, three-wire system and four-wire system. Temperature unit: Three options, namely ℃, K and ℉.
After the setting is completed based on needs, press “F4” under OK to enter the RTD measurement mode. Key functions under RTD measurement mode: Option: Reset RTD type, wiring system and temperature unit.
Zero clearing: Press “F4” under Zero before RTD measurement to perform open circuit zero clearing for measuring circuit.
Simulate thermocouple and RTD

- Operation Method
Under output mode of main interface, press function key “TC/RTD” to give a prompt for entering simulate thermocouple and RTD output select interface on the bottom of screen. 1) Pressing for simulate thermocouple output
Press “F1” under TC to enter thermocouple output setting interface and set thermocouple type, temperature unit, cold junction mode and cold junction temperature value under manual compensation, as shown in the figure.
Task Function
Under main interface, press to enter task list interface, as shown in the figure. Under the interface, the user can create a new task, delete existing tasks, execute or redo existing tasks.
Figure shows the schematic diagram for calibration task relation between calibrator and calibrated instrument.
Pressure Measurement
- Connection Requirements
It is required to connect SDP modular intelligent digital pressure calibrator and process calibrator with pressure module connecting lines.
- Operation Method
Under measurement mode of main interface, press to enter main interface of module pressure measurement. If detecting pressure module connection, the calibrator will display a pressure value in the measurement display area. If detecting no pressure module, the calibrator will display a prompt of No Pressure Module! In the measurement area. The function can detect the pressure transmitter (current-type, voltage-type and switch-type). Wiring diagram of current-type pressure transmitter is shown in the figure for the header of wiring diagram for voltage-type transmitter, refer to voltage measurement; for the header of wiring diagram for switch-type transmitter, refer to switching value measurement. Key functions under pressure measurement mode of main interface:
Option: Modify unit of displayed pressure value, such as mmH2O, mmHg, mbar, bar, psi, Pa, MPa and kpa.
View: display URV, LRV and pressure unit of pressure module.
Switch: Switch pressure current, pressure voltage and pressure switch when measuring pressure, and record pressure value for switching when measuring pressure switch as shown in the figure.
Zero clearing: Module pressure zero clearing.
System Setting
Under setting interface, select system setting icon, and then press under Selector to enter the system setting interface. System setting includes
- Screen setting,
- Alarm setting,
- Shutdown setting
- Firmware update.
Communication Protocol
Basic Rules of Communication Protocol
- Communication format of physical layer data is asynchronization, no parity, 8 data bits and 1 stop bit. Communication speed is 2400 bps, 4800 bps, 9600 bps or 19200 bps.
- Communication loop takes master/slave mode and the data is transmitted by hexadecimal data package.
