Toronto, Canada – GAO Tek Inc. recommends its pen style optical visual fault locator which efficiently assists field technicians to verify continuity, check the validity of patch cables and locate faults in both single mode (SM) and multimode (MM) optical fibers. The fault locator is commonly used for the maintenance of fiber optic networks, optical systems including LAN, FDDI and ATM, telecommunications and CATV networks.
This handheld optical visual fault locator, model C0280004, has a 650 nm visible laser source that transmits continuous light or 1 Hz adjustable strobe light into a fiber allowing the user to visually detect a fiber fault over distances of up to 9 km. It operates for up to 80 hours with modulated light and up to 50 hours with continuous light using 2 1.5 V AA alkaline batteries. Featuring pen-shaped design, lightweight, simple operation and long operating time, it is a popular choice among field technicians.
This optical visual fault locator belongs to GAO’s Visual Fault Series. Another product included in this line is Handheld Visible Laser Source which uses visible red light to indicate the location of fiber faults from a macro bend point, break, problem coupler or connector or a mechanical splice that is not well aligned.
